August Wishlist!

Hey Adventurers I know I'm a day early, but I got plans for August and I want to get into it already! :) So today is my monthly wish list!

1. Urban Decay

Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

I want to try this foundation because 1. It's new 2. It's Urban Decay. and 3. It's name is 'weightless' Uhh, hello? Exciting! The description of this is:

A weightless and virtually invisible liquid foundation that a luminous, demi-matte finish.

Description alone makes me want to try it. I'm a sucker for these types of things. New products always
get me intrigued.

2. NARS

Foreplay

I'm still lusting over NARS Orgasm blush from last month--I didn't buy it, and then I saw this along with it last month. It's a new--well, not THAT new-- product that deconstructs the infamous Orgasm blush. With one pink square, one red square 'yellow' like shade that contains the shimmer that Orgasm does and then Orgasm in the corner. I've heard that this palette is a lot smaller than one would think. but I just want it so BAD! I don't know if it's going to be worth the price tag though, BUT I have always liked NARS blushes so I just might give in and buy it. I'm just thinking, do I really need it?! It has a $49 price tag but I regret not buying the danmari palette and I'm thinking I'll regret not buying this one as well. Decisions decisions!

3. LORAC

PRO Palette

This palette caught my eye because of how beautifully simple it is. The color names aren't fancy and the colors are true colors, some shimmer colors, some matte, it seems like an extremely good palette to have a 16 colors for $42 doesn't seem that bad to me. I just have to think of how much I'd actually use it. But I would seriously love this thing. Seems like it would be the perfect thing to take traveling, it has it's neutrals, and it's pops of colors. I think I just convinced myself I need to get it....

4. Bare Escentuals

Pure Transformation Night Treatment

This product intrigues me. It's a powder you put on at night before you go to bed and it's supposed to improve your skin. The price tag is $60 but I know that I can get it at the NEX for $48. I'm going to have to do my research before I actually decide if I'm going to get it or not. It comes in three colors, Clear, light, and medium. I would probably get the clear because in my mind there is less of a chance of it transferring to the pillow if it's 'clear'. This just intrigues me so much, because I've never heard of anything like it. Again, I'm just not sure it's worth the price tag.

Those are all of my items for this month! What are some of the items you're lusting over?

Birchbox, Glamour style!

Hey adventurers! It seems that all of my monthly subscription services arrived at around the same time, I hope you don't mind all of the alike posts! This time it's Birchbox! If you don't know it's 10 dollars a month to get surprise samples to your door every month! This month they had a collaboration with Glamour Magazine.
In this month's box I received:
Color Club's nailpolish in the color Blue-Ming(get it? blue-ming/blooming HA!) Full size $8
Gloss Moderne- High-Gloss Masque Full size $39
Harvey Prince- Eau Flirt (who woulda thunk it? Another perfume sample....) Full size- $55-$98
Manna Kadar Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion Full size- $29
Suki Balancing Kit( the five packets that you see in the picture above) Full size- $40

The two extra's which were included in this kit is the Larabar Roasted Nut Roll and a pair of headphones.

Overview: I am not exactly sure how I feel about this box to be honest. I'm excited about the hair mask cause I have a lot of those to try, I'm just too lazy to wash my hair out 20 minutes later(to be honest again) and the nail polish is a really pretty color. But I'm just not that excited about this box.

Bottom Line: I don't feel like I got my 10 dollars this month. I mean if you look at the box, you'd see 10 dollars worth, but I feel like I could of spent my 10 dollars some other way, better.

and now pictures of how it comes wrapped!

New Beauty Test Tube!

Hey-lo Adventurer's I received another TestTube in the mail and I was a little surprised to be honest. But It's different than the first one. I'm not sure the schedule of receiving them, so I'm a little confused about it. I know it's every couple of months, but I'm not sure the exact. Anyway, lets get into it!

The items in this months test-tube were(in no particular order):
Lumene: Time Freeze Firming Night Cream- Full size $21.99
Neutrogena: Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum- Fullsize- $19.99-$22.99 (This item was full sized!)
It'a 10: Miracle Leave in plus Keratin treatment(I got the regular and not + Keratin)- Fullsize- $20
Olay: Pro-X Clear Complexion Renewing Lotion- Fullsize Unknown because this item is only included in a kit.
Neutrogena: Brightening Eye Perfector- Fullsize- $13.99 (This item was full sized!)
Hydroxatone: Instanteffect- Fullsize- $60
Mally: High Shine Liquid Lipstick- Fullsize- $20 (This item was full sized!)
Smashbox: Photo Finish Primer
and a few other things that weren't listed in the booklet that comes with it.

Overview: This quarter's tube was really focused on anti-aging in my opinion and I'm not looking for that, I'm a young person and so that was slightly disappointing for me. But I do like the fact that they put a concealer in this tube and they included multiple shades in there depending on the answer that you provided in your quiz that you took. I enjoy that fact that I can see that those answer's aren't just a fake mask that they put on and that they actually take that into account. From the booklet they had 4 shades to choose one. There were 3 full-sized products in this tube which I think is absolutely amazing, if you add only those 3 together you get around 45 dollars and I only pay 39.95 for the tube so those 3 items pay for the tube. I'm also really interested in trying the it's a 10 because I've heard amazing things about it, but never wanted to pay the price for it.

Bottom line: I'm not as over thrilled about this tube as I was the first one, but I am still really happy with this purchase and I honestly think I got my money back in this tube. This is one subscription that seems to know what they're doing and all other's should take note!

Loreal's Colour Riche Lipgloss in Watermelon Crush!

Hello Adventurers! More Swatches here for ya! I purchased a Loreal Colour Riche 'leGloss' lip gloss in the color Watermelon Crush. I picked this up after hearing all the hype about them and of course I got it in a pink!
Here's without flash, the consistency reminds me of the Benefit Ultra Plush lip glosses that just came out. It's not too sticky and it does have a sweet smell. I'm not really a fan of the smell to be honest. But that's just because I'm sensitive to smells and sweet candy-ish ones really are not my fancy.
Here's it with flash. It's a sheer gloss, but it can definitely be built up in my opinion. This is a heavy swatch so that the color would actually come through. There isn't shimmer in the gloss, it's just like a cream color lip gloss, and I like the fact that there is no shimmer, cause sometimes a girl can only take so much!

I have a few more idea's up my sleeve for this blog, but go ahead and leave your recommendations below! I always would appreciate some feedback!

Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blushes: Flushed, Pinched Swatches!

Hello Adventurers! I picked up some of the New(ish) Revlon cream blushes and here are some swatches. I have tried out pinched since I bought them and pinched is a peach color and on my skin tone it just barely shows up and it doesn't last long. I set them with my Rimmel Stay Matte powder because I know you have to set it. I've been applying it with the BH Cosmetics stippling brush so I might just be applying it wrong, I don't like the idea of using my fingers so I'll keep testing it out before I make my final say on that---expect a review on these in the next coming months---. I haven't tried Flushed yet which is the bright pink shade, but I am expecting great things from that one, if I can figure out how to get it to stay on my face than I'm sure I'll let you know! Onto the swatches!

Pinched on the left, is coming off much more orange in this picture than in real life, the picture below is more to the actual shade that it is.

As you can see in the picture above, pinched is on the left and flushed is on the right, and you can tell that pinched is very hard to see so I should of known it would of blended it. It just give a touch of color on the cheeks which is good if you're going for dramatic eye makeup or lips. Also in the Pinched swatch it is very streaky, but I don't have that problem on my cheeks, so I would say try to avoid building it up too much to avoid the streakiness. This picture above is also without flash on the camera.

This is the picture with flash and still Pinched blends in with my skin, but you can see that they give off a sheen but they are not shimmery, and have no sparkle. Also Flushed is not as bright as it is in the pot, but if I remember correctly the swatch stayed on the finger very well and only a little transferred onto the back of my hand, you probably have a better chance of building Flushed up than pinched. I didn't have the streaky problem with Flushed.

Any other products you'd like me to try? Go ahead and leave them down below!

July Birchbox!

Hey guys, another monthly subscription has arrived at my door! I am debating on closing this one out though. Because I'm not really using the items I have received from it. So I'm not entirely sure about this one. :/ But if you don't know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription service that costs 10 dollars and sends samples to your door every month.

For the month of July I received:

Modcloth- a hair accessory including instructions to put it on, it's one with the wire in it.
Coola Mineral face spf 30- This is a sunscreen which is pretty cool I guess, but for the 10 dollars I could of just gotten sunscreen from the store. But I appreciate the summer twist on the item.
TheBalm Staniac- a lip and cheek stain which I haven't heard of before so I will be trying this one out, probably as a lip stain, not a cheek stain because I'm not to skilled at blending before these types of products dry.
BeautyBlender Cleanser- Useless to me because I don't use a beauty blender, I wonder if it could be used as a brush cleaner?
A Cologne sample from Birchbox Man- I wonder how all the single girls feel about this being in their box?
A Self tanning cloth(2)- I don't think I'll get much use out of this because I feel like these cloths are very gimmicky and I don't fake tan. :(

So July's Birchbox: Pass.

The only item in the box that I was excited about was the Staniac and that's just because I have been wanting to try theBalm products but I have no idea where to purchase them at a store.

Should I continue birch box or should I cancel?

Quick Review: Philosophy's Take a deep breath Moisturizer

Hey guys! I received this sample in my MyGlam bag and I was quite excited to try it out and see how it works. It's the Philosophy Take a deep Breath oil free energizing moisturizer.

The consistency is cream like gel and the color is white with a blue hue to it.

When I put it on my face I feel a cooling effect and that's pretty much it, I don't get the 'energizing' at all. It doesn't like wake me up or anything like that. and I would say that this is just a lack luster Moisturizer. It doesn't deep moisturize or anything and I really feel like they missed the mark on this one.

But points to MyGlam for putting it in there, it was super exciting for me to try out, and it's not a BAD moisturizer I just have other one's that I like better and I don't think that it is worth $34. So for me, I will not be purchasing the full-size of this product.

Victoria's Secret: The Nakeds

Hello Adventurers! I picked up the new Victoria's Secret palette that recently came out. It has 10 Shadows and it'll cost you $28 dollars. I'm not a fan of the packaging, it has that cheap sequins feel too it, but the name plate is kind of a cool touch, that I do like.

So when you open it up you have the 10 colors--of course-- and an eyeliner and an duel ended eyeshadow brush--which is just awful. If you like matte eyeshadows and only matte eyeshadows this palette is NOT for you, it only has one matte shade in it and that is the black in the bottom right corner.

Now don't get confused, this is just with the card that comes in it stating the colors, and like I said, it's only a 10 color palette. The 10 colors are(i'm going to go left to right top row, and then left to right bottom row): (Top row) Barely Pink, Copper Sand, Graystone, Brown sable, Sparkling Black, (bottom row) Warm Vanilla, Tawny Pink, Smoky Lilac, Sparkling Brown, and Charcoal Black. and As I stated above the only matte shade is Charcoal Black.

Here are the swatches! I rather like the pigmentation it gives off, but from swatching them I can tell a favorite of mine is going to be the smokey lilac, that color is just amazing when it hit my skin. It didn't seem so great in the pan, but man. It was really nice. Brown Sable came off a bit streaky in the swatch but I'll text it out more and we'll see what happens with that, and the Charcoal Black is BLACK straight black. No shimmer, no glaze, no frost, just BLACK.

So from first impressions, I'd say that this was worth the $28 I paid for it. I just wish that they would of included more matte shades. I'm going to test it out more and expect and actual review from me in the coming months, not just a first impressions.

Were you thinking about picking this up?

June/July Beauty Army!

Hello Adventurer's! I made a post a little while back stating which monthly subscription services I belong too, and back then I was on the waiting list for Beauty Army but I have since got off the waiting list. Beauty Army is 12 dollars a month and you get to PICK--yes, you PICK up to 6 beauty samples in your 5 day window. My 5 day window is the 24th-29th so I picked these out in June, but they arrived in July which is why I call it the June/July box. Because inside the box, the little card actually said July on it. So anyways I digress, you get to pick up to 6 beauty samples and if you don't like what they have to offer you can skip that month, every 24 hours in your 5 day window they will refresh your samples. You do fill out a little beauty quiz to sign up--do they even listen to the answer's of those quizzes??--- This month I only liked 5 things so I only received 5 things.

The five things I received which I am super excited about because I got two different primers and I've never tried primer before, arrreeeeee--from left to right--

  • Besame(?) Crimson Rouge Cheek and lip tint-- I was a little disappointed with this because it is very small, I thought that it was going to be a bigger size, but that's kind of what you should expect with these things.
  • Youngblood's mineral primer-- Super excited about this because I've never heard of the brand but I've seen it on Hautelook and the products are kind of expensive even when they were on Hautelook, but I'm definitely going to be trying this out and telling you guys how I like it.
  • Clear Prep fx Matte Foundation Primer and Anti-Acne treatment gel-- I love the sound of this, a primer that will fight acne?! Uh hellloooo? Why have I not heard of this before, I have high hopes for this one and if it works I WILL be buying the full size of this baby.
  • CellCeuticals Active Moisture and barrier- To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what this is, is it a moisturizer? I'm not sure. But I recognize the brand from my New Beauty Test tube.
  • Pssssst! Dry Shampoo-- Now, this sample has been in almost every single Monthly subscription service that there is, but I have never gotten it and I'd like to try it. I know for a fact that it will leave a white cast because I have dark hair, but If you actually rub it in, it'll go away and I'm curious to see how many uses I can get out of this can since people are saying the full size of the Dove Dry shampoo doesn't get you very far.

Now if you don't have Beauty Army or have never seen it, I'm below are going to be the pictures of how it comes packaged and wrapped in case you were wondering!

All in all, I was very happy with this months box completely worth my 12 dollars in my opinion. Talk to you guys soon!

xoxoAlaina

PS. Did you get a Beauty Army box this month? If you did, tell me what YOU got down below!

OOTD: July 16th: Running Errands

Hey guys! Outfit of the day post here. Today I'm wearing a shirt I picked up yesterday from a store called Hatsby. I picked up this one and another one for $30. Shorts are from American Eagle which I picked up a few months ago when they were having all their shorts for $10.

My accessories are my Anne Klein watch and some bracelets I got from the international market in Waikiki, and of course my wedding ring!

New Benefit Plush Lipglosses Swatches!

Hello Adventurers! As I promised in my Haul Video on youtube--if you aren't subscribed to me, you should be! (www.youtube.com/AlternativelyAlaina)-- Today is the day you get the swatches of the 4 plush lip glosses that I purchased a few days ago. I decided not to get Bella Bamba because it seemed too deep of a color for me and I'm not really into deep reds like that. So I just got these four instead, and that is another things to check off my wish list! Making that wish list in the beginning of the month is really good for me, cause then I set my sights on things that I know I want, and I work up to getting them--anyway. Back to the swatches! The four colors I purchased were Coralista, Dandelion, Sugarbomb, and Hoola!

I love the fact that Benefit did this, they took popular products and made them into lip glosses, I thought that was very clever of them and really intuitive. I think the one I'm most excited for is Dandelion, I just love that color! Coralista is coming off a bit bright because of the flash.

Here they are! Swatches! Going from Left to Right they are-- Coralista, Dandelion, Sugarbomb, and then Hoola.

Close up to where you can really see them.

-Coralista is a straight reddy orangish color with no shimmer at all, it's just a colored gloss, straight forward and I quite like that.
-Dandelion is a light pale pink with shimmer in it.
-Sugarbomb is what I'd like to call a true pink with shimmer
-Hoola is a tan nude with shimmer in it.

I would like to say that I think that Benefit did a good job with the formula of these glosses and I didn't find them sticky at all! I will do a full review after I get to wearing them and trying them out for a few!

Review: Ultra Radiance Facial Re-hydrating Mist.

Hello adventurers! Today's review another one of Benefit's skincare items. It's the facial mist that is supposed to refresh the face and refresh your makeup. This bad boy will cost you $26. Here's what Benefit Cosmetics says about it (www.benefitcosmetics.com)

"Even the brightest complexions need a quick pick-me-up now & then. Ultra radiance facial re-hydrating mist instantly enhances radiance with our exclusive tri-radiance complex to deliver immediate & long-term hydration."

I can tell you right now that I do not like this product. This is one item I would skip in the b.right skincare line. This facial mist in the packaging that comes in the box says that this can be worn over makeup-- don't do it!--- it basically soaks your face and if you dare touch your face while this stuff is still wet, you'll wipe off all your hard work. It's really sticky on the face afterward as well. If you weren't wearing makeup and you wanted to use this as a before the makeup to just refresh the face, it does cool you down, but I don't feel that the sticky feeling at the end is really worth it.

The 'long-term hydration' really is the sticky-ness you'll feel from using this product. I have not tried other facial mists, but this one misses the mark. Sorry Benefit!!

Final remarks? I would not repurchase this again. So Pass.

Review: It's potent! Eye Cream.

Hey guys! Continuing on with my review series I have another Benefit skincare product and today it is the eye cream! This bad boy right here costs $32 and it's marketed as a eye cream that fade's dark circle's here's an excerpt from the Benefit website (www.benefitcosmetics.com)

"Your eyes can't keep a secret...they're the first to show signs of age & stress. It's potent! eye cream fades dark circles & helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger-looking eyes. Contains a peptide complex known to help restore elasticity & firmness, a blend of hydrating botanical extracts including apple extract, known to help boost collagen, & loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage."

I use this product twice a day once in the morning after I put on my moisturizer and before I put on my primer and I find that this cream really hydrates the eye's but not to a over hydrated state, as many of you may know ( if you watch my video's) I have very oily eyelids and this does not make them oily nor does it reduce the amount of oil. It hydrates without adding to the mess(hah).

As for the reducing dark circles, I feel like it does a teeny bit but with the amount of sleep I don't get with my busy schedule that I just combat any good that it is doing. I do notice though with the continuous use as in everyday twice a day and not forgetting or just not doing it that it does fade the dark circles.

My final remarks? I love this eye cream, I haven't tried too many others but for the price of this(again, I get Benefit cosmetics at a discount because I am a military patron) I would repurchase it.

If you know of any other eye creams that I should try go ahead and leave them down below and I'll be sure to try them!
